Installing Oracle Data Provider

Bizagi Engine relies on the Oracle Data Provider for .NET connector to access an Oracle database, while running in a .NET platform.

This connector is needed both when the process repository is set in Oracle, or when integrating external Oracle data sources into your Bizagi project (by relying on Bizagi features: Data Virtualization or Data Replication).

This is not needed at the Database server but at the Bizagi server (where Bizagi engine is installed).

The following table describes where this component is needed according to the features involved:

Installing Oracle Data Provider required...

At the Bizagi Server

At the Server running the

Scheduler service (usually the same Bizagi Server)

When using Oracle for Bizagi Processes repository

When using Virtualization to integrate Oracle

When using Replication to integrate Oracle

To install this client, follow these instructions:

1. Choose the appropriate installer

The Oracle Data Provider for .NET is installed through the Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC).

Bizagi requires the ODAC 11g release which can be download directly from Oracle's websites.

For a 64-bit Bizagi setup, download the x64 release for .NET 4.0,

2. Install ODAC and its ODP.NET component

Run the installer at the Bizagi Server (where Bizagi Engine runs), and make sure you select the Oracle Data Access Components for Oracle Client option:

Then select the Oracle-Data-Provider for .NET component:

Click Install to complete the procedure.

Once finished, you will be notified by this window and you may close the installer.

Further information about the Oracle Data Provider for .NET, any requirements or its detailed instructions, are found at Oracle's websites:

3. Do this for additional servers if applies

If you are using a Bizagi cluster or if you have the Scheduler service running in a different server, ensure you install this component in there as well.

Notice that:

The database server does not require this component.

End users do not need to install this component on their workstations (end users access Bizagi Work Portal, which only requires a browser).
